Susan Barlow Greymouth Dancing Competitions! I so remember those in the 50's. Are they still happening?

Alana Pritchard Susan Barlow we still do have them every year in the September school holidays but this year we have decided because of COVID we are not having them there is a Facebook page Greymouth competition society

Spent many school hols in the 60s and 70s at tap dancing comps in Grey. Mum made all my costumes and sometimes played the piano

Jennie Scott I just love the dancing. I learnt as a pre schooler and absolutely loved it. I used to get up and dance in the night and as we lived in a 2 storey house my parents were worried I’d fall down the stairs even though they barricaded then. My cousin started just after me and made a career of dancing and teaching. She was very well known here in Wellington. She was an examiner as well. She put on some remarkable shoes and taught till she was in her 80s. As well as just being cousins we were good friends. I have a gt g/daughter who dancers. Last year won a cup and two scholarships for a year for dances of her choice. They have been invited to go to Disney land to perform but not sure if they’re going or not due to the cost. Sophie is 10.
