Tony Froome Awesome I've seen some gd ones like up coal creek Another in new river behind Pattersos flat and up the left branch of ten mile. But that one's the best. Where is it if ya don't mind answering it??

Glenn Johnston I have seen similar around the goldfields like that and of bigger dimensions. Some may have been boxes where riffles or rounds of wood were inserted to trap gold but similar were used as small flumes to convey water around the claim.

John Rosanowski The gold rush diggers called these sluice boxes the "Long Tom."

Glenn Johnston My photo shows not a single hewn box but where sawn planks have been used to line the sides and floor of a man made creek diversion being used as a water race. I've posted pics of split slabs being used as fluming/boxes in the past.
