Kerry Molloy Alan wisdom-alan to me was to brass band music -social bands what John Vincent Knapp was to bagpipes and highland music -a legend in the true sense of the word!

There was a band in Greymouth back in the day that my dad played the piano for. It was called Regal. Dad was in the railways and met mum in Greymouth. Mum was a musician too. They would go and play at balls and dances together. Reg Buchanan and Mary Rose Cawley. Dad said the Stillwater hall was fantastic because of the special dance floor.

The Stillwater Hall was a great place to dance on the floor it moved. I was lucky to have danced on this floor and loved every minute of it when dancing was dancing.
