Bob Laing I used to ski Temple basin in the mid 1960s
One beautiful clear and still day I climbed through the snow and sat on Temple Coll for about 20 minutes
You felt as though you could reach across and touch Mt Rolleston. NZ mountains as they are meant to be.

Brian Gillooly We were skiing up there in the mid 50s. One day walked uphill from the top of the tow and came straight down the middle of the basin. Never been so fast and never been so scared. Also with the help of a young lady the two of us spliced the main tow rope which had got jammed in a pulley and broke.
