Description My parent's wedding officiated by Rev. Jamieson, vicar of Ahura. It took place in the Holy Trinity Church, Greymouth.
Lloyd Samuel Jones and Marjorie Violet Stephen. They met in Waiuta on the tennis courts in 1947.
Their best man was Alec Bain Hogg, Dad knew him in Malaya, and they both were civil POWs. Alec was the mill superintendent at Waiuta. The maid of honour, I forget who that was. If someone knows her name, please remind me!

I might be answering my own question as the name Rita Cuff comes to mind. The Cuff family is here in a 1922 photo, says they were from Blackwater.

Was your grandfather in Changi internment camp in Singapore during WW2? My grandfather was, and kept records of all the prisoners and where they were sent.

Dinah Okeby yes he was, almost died there. The war ended on time for him. My dad wrote a memoir about that time, and his mining history. What was your grandfather's name?

Peta Jones David Nelson. He also wrote a book about his time in Changi and the records that he kept. The records are all in the Imperial War Museum now.

Dad mentions there were 53 New Zealanders there. He was transferred from Changi to Sime Road the last year. In 2001 he travelled there for the opening of the Changi chapel/museum. Dad was 84.

Dinah Okeby I think from researching your grandfather's name he was older than my Dad. Was he a civilian prisoner? I'm sure their paths crossed.
I only discovered this today! Dad never showed me these items. I'm a bit sad he didn't, but maybe still too traumatic for him.

Peta Jones Jones is a common name, I know - but just wondering if your family has any connection to the Jones family from Denniston. My grandfather William Llewyllyn Jones was born and brought up in Denniston - from a coal mining background.
Was your father Lloyd Jones? Or grandfather? Lloyd Jones is the same generation as my mother, going by the date of the wedding. So my grandfather (her father) was the generation prior to that.

My parents were also married at that church - 31st March 1956. I remember dad saying they were one of the last couples to be married there before it burned down. Their photos were taken in the same place.
