Bloody hell 1968 was not a good time for this area Hotles in Reefton burnt , Hotel Ingugahua Junction swooshed from earth quake. Maruia Hotel gone. the cross on the hill over Reefton got the blame and never new if we had a teacher or not because ever… See More

Had a beer in the tin shed replacement a couple of weeks after the hotel burnt down, heavy rain on the roof, you had to yell at each other to be heard.

My late Dad & Grandfather made the first road there. 2 miles made with a horse & Dray with tools being pick & shovel. He got paid 2/- a day. (that's 20cents)
