My grandmother travelled from the East coast to the Westcoast on a coach. Said they had to walk on the downhill parts to make it easier on the horses.

Not sure if I’ve said this before but my grandmother who travel in them told me the leed horse on the side of the road with the big fall was the most experienced and wouldn’t get spooked
