Used to be Ronny Morris's shop in the sixties. Loved him and the girls. I was a newly-wed in the late 50s and early sixties. Didn't go to the Co-op store - was scared of all the matronly ladies who were customers there. I was so young! XX

I agree Alan it was a great place to grow up. Just out of the picture on the left was Spud Pizzarto's store . Dad sold the fuel pumps to him. We used to go to the movies and at half time go and get a big cream freeze. I still remember my cousin coming over from Chch. She gave my 50 cents. With that 50cents I got into the movies, bought her a packet of pall mall, me a big cream freeze with the flake in it and still took change to her.

I lived in Runanga 1964/69 in Ranfurly Street great years those were had two sons and a daughter late husband worked at the seven mile
House burnt down and moved to Perth those days I was married to a Haines in Runanga

Aunty Tiny had the shop before uncle Ron had the IGA. Aunty Tiny lived on the corner house and worked at the school for years

me and my family went thew runanga last week for a drive and to see the 4 square shop no longer there not sure on how many years its been gone for havent been thew runanga for a number of years

I don't know for how long, but Dad drove one of the Wyldes buses. He picked up the Cobden blokes and took them out to the Strongman. He had to park it on the Richmond st hill, the starter was buggered. Crash start the darn thing.

I was brought up in Runanga at that time. Our high school bus wasn’t that flash. Sometimes we squashed into a little old one if the other one broke down. Ron Morris shop then Spuds. Played badminton with Spud. Wyldes had a mini bus. Des and Muriel Piner took us to inter club nights. Met at garage but always dropped off at our gates home time. Kept playing when I moved around the country. Good way to make friends.

He was a wonderful Dad. I have lots of awesome memories of what he did for us kids and our very close family Helen Brennan / Prescott.
Through all the years when he worked for Roy Wylde. He did the high school runs for a long time. A big part of his time at Roy's was driving the Red Bus on the town run from Runanga to Greymouth. He loved that bus and the job.
Runanga was the best town ever growing up with all our families and friends.

Used to ride that bus from Grey High back to Barrytown. Always used to race in and grab a Rocky road ice cream before jumping back on and heading home. Chucking the Grey star out the window on the way home as the bus went past a driveway was always fun!
