My parents' friends, the Daglish family, had this at the time (not sure if owned or rented). We stayed with them in the house attached to the store. Unfortunately I (as a 5 year old) couldn't resist the temptation to sneak into the store at night and nick lollies from the big lollie jars ...

I can recall that shop being built in the late 1940s or early 1950s. I think it was built by Mr Jim Medelyn (or some name similar) who lived in the house next door. The house around the shop now was an add-on. Mrs Robertson owned a shop (run from the front room of her house) further down the road in McDougall Ave. Prior to that there was a grocery store owned by Mr Freddy Key around the corner from the hotel. My Grandparents also ran a wee shop (also from the front room of their house) in McDougall Ave. Freddy Key's and my Grandparents' shop were there before the Co-op Store in Dunollie (also now long gone) was opened.
