I think I recognise some of these. My father had a great collection of little songbooks.

My father had a superb tenor voice. My mother was the Coaster- Kath Lalor was her maiden name. When her father, James Lalor (jnr) was in hospital in 1958, we came to the SI to see him. (I was just a baby.) I was told that my father (Jim Riordan) sang sang in the Catholic Church while on the Coast, but I don't know if that was in Kumara or Greymouth.

I remember these song books we used to sing from them on the way home from boarding school but never sang on the way back don’t know why .....,

they cost 6d. each and we used to buy them with our pocket money.we knew the words of all the popular songs and i still remember most of them.
