Robert Andrew McMillan and what appears to be a group of friends who are all dressed up to the 9s. Robert is bottom right. Not sure why they all have button hole arrangements (maybe a wedding?). Also we know nothing of who the friends are - maybe from rugby as he played for the Kiwi team in Hoki.
Robert was killed in Rouen in 1916 and I have his war medal & letter from the King etc. Hope to be able to visit his grave at some stage. Would love to know who else was in the photo which may give us a bit more of an insight to his early life. Map^[1]ContributorRobert Mc`Millan

On his military history records, he is listed as being an engine driver for the Hockstetter Gold Company. Maybe they are workmates?

Hi Robert, we were going to be visiting his grave sítě this year before going to Spain . Unfortunately Covid put an end to that, I Hope that you get the chance to visit at some stage.

Robert McMillan Dad’s Jersey bull was called Andrew , he had a close relationship with Uncle Jack so maybe also with Robert. Uncle Jack sent things home to dad, whilst he was away at war. Shame dad never told us these things. Mumwas the one to tell us bits and pieces of family history.

Kathryn Ward, Yes familiar story with my parents, some good stories about the old days but very little about anything other than immediate family. Good that we can communicate easier and conserve stuff a bit better now.
