For the record, TITOKI, scrapped in 1987, PURIRI. scrapped 1974. KOKIRI. lost without trace in the South China Sea in October 1971 under the name of JUNIOR K.L.. PUSAN scrapped in 1979, after an engineroom fire which she was damaged beyond repair. This photo appears to be hand coloured as the original photo was B&W.

Great photo, my father worked on a few of these ships. He and Grandad were also night watchmen during the 60s on the wharf. Regular trips to see the coal boats tied up, wandering along holding one of their hands very tight as we navigated the old sleepers and the big gaps between them, I thought I would fall through one

Me and my Brother Kerry were supplying Fruit and Vegetables to these Ships two or three Years after 1961 when we had The Fruit Shop.We had Contracts to supply The Anchor Shipping Company And The Union Steam Ship Company and they were very interesting times.You couldn’t drive to the Ships you had to climb through all the Wagons and at times they were Shunting and I don’t think Health had been invented then.

Brian Gus Heveldt Can remember your brother Kerry and his fruit and veg truck coming up the hill next to the Dobson mine to our house when we were kids.Mum used to order all her fruit for jams and preserving from him also.Can't have been easy driving up that hill!!
