Wow also! I too called her Auntie Jose. Whilst not a relative she was great friends with my grandmother Margaret George who lived a few houses away in Sinnott Road. She loved us kids and like Nigel boy the lollies we got!!

Ian Boustridge I remember your grandparents as well, Charlie would tell her off for mowing the lawn and insist he would come around and cut it even though he had one hand himself! She was incredibly generous and spoilt us all - many happy memories of holidays in Marlborough Street, Minties store and Kennedy’s buses to town on a Friday

Pauline Failes Grandad was Henry, who had the arm prosthesis, uncle Chas (Charlie) played a cornet in the band. They could talk to one another over the back fence between Sinnott Road and Marlborough St. Auntie Jose a beautiful lady we ran messages for and also mowed her lawns on occasion..boy scouts 'bobs for jobs' and lollies extra

Ian Boustridge that is right, Chas and Dawn(?) lived around by Minties shop from memory. Not many people would know what “bobs for jobs” are now

Pauline Failes Yes auntie Dawn ..they lived on the corner of Marsden Road and Josephine St. That is Mrs Henry's son (name?) between the ladies and I think the top of Arnold Becks head can be seen at the back behind Mrs Henry.

Yes it is Don. Lived next to my Nana and Grandad in Boddytown.

Nigel McLean Dad was patron of the band at one time and spent hours at the barbershop talking to Claude. Don't think it was all band matters!

Vic Baxter used to pick me up in his Vauxhall to go to band practice. I lived in Marsden Rd so he was driving past.

Josie put on a huge spread every year when we hit her area carolling. Brother Vic, taught many of us in our formative years. Some went on to be members of the National Band of NZ. I’ll miss some but will include Dave Neil, Rob Neil and Rob Fischer. Unbelievable what those two did for banding in Greymouth.
