73 Guiness St was the Kennedy Homestead. Whilst waiting for our new home to be built on the cnr of Cowper and Franklin St we lived here. Mun and dad had the room on the left and Maureen, Colleen and me shared the room on the right. Uncle Marty had his room opposite the kitchen. This was around 1957/9.

Great article. It brought back memories. I remember seeing "The Student Prince" sometime in the late 50s/early 60s. I was a kid, so probably didn't fully appreciate the effort put into this, but I well remember the costumes, colour & music. Silly story…

I am chuffed to say that I attended Country Girl at the Regent Theatre in 1945. Mum was a chorus girl. Not sure about Dad but he was in a show called The Toreador.

My mum was in the gesha.many years ago.i can't even spell it.

I was at the performance of “The Country Girl” in 1944. I think that the star of the show was Beverley Patterson but could be wrong about that. I remember that she wore a gingham bonnet which I think was blue and white. I did not realise that it was the First ever performance by the Greymouth Operatic Society.
