The tarseal was only in front of the Tea rooms - (( keep the dust away))otherwise it was a dirt rd Greymouth to Westport (( with the exception of a few miles of single lane seal just past )) Charleston

That is not the Tea Room. That building was a gift shop. I lived in the tea room which is north of this building as a child from 1974.

There were two elderly brothers owned (Mandersons)it before the Shaws . They (the Shaws,,,,,had the Bach beside ours before the punakaiki river . Our family built the Bach , the first in the bit of land which had more to come in the little village. Loved it out there
