When parcels came on the train they were taken there and you had to go and collect them!!

I cleaned there for a while when my babies were little , Ray Rasmussen, Harry Collet . Ray not sure of his surname , goodness the day a patient stole a car and crashed it into Millers plate glass nearly run me and my baby over then did a runner and hid in the toilets at the road services.

Yes Cecily , was a sad day intown, but unfortunately not the only incident that happened we should always be watchful of these things and no where to ring to get help not always the police.

Catching the 5pm bus back to Grey - took an hour to get back lol

On Saturday nights at 10.30pm after seeing a film at the Regent Theatre we could catch a bus to wherever there was a dance that night - Kumara, Kaniere, Gladstone or Woodstock. Bus home about 2.30am Sunday.

Used to catch the bus to go up to the hospital Sunday afternoons for visiting. Left that depot on many a rugby trip to Nelson and ChCh with Kiwis. Great times.

I remember it very well and with Thomas Bros opposite. I was a mechanic with Greymouth Motors in Tancred street and was always assisting at the Road Service when the pressure was on. Great memories

My Dad was a mechanic at the Harihari NZR Road Services Depot late 40's to 51.I was born in the NZRRS cottage behind the gararge in 1947.

We used to catch the bus at 9.15 p.m. every Saturday night to go to Kumara dance one week & Gladstone the next. Drivers were Bert McMullen, Harry Collett & ? Griffiths.

Hokitika was a big shopping destination maybe once a fortnight, l lived in Hari hari as a child, my best friend lived in a NZRRS behind the depo too her last name was Barltrop, wonderful memories of the old depo

Jack Barltrop being the Rail area manager during the 80's? Really nice man who's brother drove the Road services bus on our 'Brick house' social tours up the Grey valley.
RIP Jack, always be remembered.
