AddBy: William Gray4th Jan 2021 8:32PMLADY DOROTHY, Built by Lidgards in Auckland in 1967, she was built for a company that was not able to take delivery of her the original name was SOUTH SEAS, she went up for tender, and Basil Piner become the owner, and renamed her LADY DOROTHY. As far as is known Dodger Kroening steamed her down from Auckland to Nelson. She finally arrived here, via Westport where she was held up in there due to bar and weather conditions. After fitting out here she did fish out of Nelson, for Wonder Foods which later became Sealord Returning here she fished out of here for several years, skippered firstly by Brian Piner, then Murray. she was later sold to Barry Gardner, who worked her out of here, then later on was sold to owners in Port Chalmer, who fitted her out to catch queen scallops, she is still working there today 2021, Tonnage 95 tonnes, length 21m (70ft).
