I remember visiting there as a kid in the late 60s and there was a state forest there at one time. I came across the site of an old engineering workshop and wreck of a vintage car.

Geoff Belcher I remember Bob I was the paper boy in Ruatapu and delivered the Sunday Star down there. We lived in Ruatapu for about 8 years.

PaulAnthony Teens Was Rec ground Ruatapu had a cricket team in those early days. Had concrete pitch.

There is a big cutting in the low ridge behind the mill that the tram line used to run through before logs were carted to the mill by road. There is also evidence of former gold mining near the mill.

Lots of big big eels in here and they are not afraid of humans. Got bit bad.

i was liveing there when this photo was taken,work hunted ,and fished till the 80the clear patch is were the prosseing factory is,all the small sheds this side of the railway line was kings pigs,the farm i haunted is the big house between the pine trees,,temples farms,the smoke is a large steam mill,this brings back some thoughts,,
