    By: William Gray23rd Jan 2021 10:07AMCapt Ian Cook was Deputy Harbour-Master at Greymouth for twelve months from October 1965 to October 1966, he resigned from the Grey Harbour Board to become a maritime pilot at Gisborne, and was later premoted to Harbour -master at Gisborne. He had a very interesting nautical career, over the years, He was once offered a job as tug skipper with Seatow, but he said at that time the thought of towing coal laden barges in and out of Greymouth, and having to run the bar didn,t really appeal to him. He later wrote a book entitled THOSE IN PERIL about his seafaring career, which was published in 2008. He was living at Taupo at that time.

    Ian Cook,Whangarei, sold his taxi to become Deputy Harbour Master at Greymouth.
