Indoor Cricket was masses of fun. Mixed teams played it was all pretty hard n fast. I remember getting hit quite hard & close up one time with the ball. Boy did that hurt lol
Jeffrey you could drive into Schaef's back yard from this street on the left where the Holden is parked.
Jeffrey Paparoa Holman
. I was mistaken, the frontage of Schaefs was on Herbert Street, of course. I had my '52 Chev given a new heart there in 1968, had to sell it to pay the bill!
George Samuel
indoor cricket still operating
Glenys Coburn
Think you are right Jo Burrell.
Leanne Morris
Norm Kelly and John Doocey part of setting up the indoor cricket I believe, and yes, would have started up in the early 80's. I remember winning a cricket bat in a raffle
Ray Vincent
I do know someone involved with Silverstream. Thanks will contact them.

Paul Thomas
Can anyone of this neighbourhood help me identify this family.
Paul Thomas
Jack O'Donnell said the train drivers would throw a lump or two of coal over the fence to his house yard. I recall vividly the particular man with baggy suit, characteristic fast walking gait, and distinct hat, walking with his daughter opposite the Accommodation place being the footpath of southern Albert Street. Who was he?
Christine Banks
Paul Thomas I wonder if you are referring to the brother and sister who lived in Albert Street, behind the Duke of Edinburgh, in their old family home?
Trish Rennie
Christine Banks That was “Spy 13” and his sister….were their surnames Wilson?
Stephen Wilson
Trish Rennie I think the spy's name was Neville Wilson, no relation.
Geoff Hale
Spent a bit of time at the Charltons, My grandparents first, then my Uncles (John Charlton) after him and Colleen bought it. Still stop in and see Colleen at Kaiata at least once a year.
Lois Wotton
Minty Outram (Jim), was my mothers brother, so my Uncle. Fond memories.
Phil Gibson
I remember going to Vera Deers place after some floods to help lift carpet. She used to have a shop in town where paper plus is. I think that was her name. Anyone else remember her?
Christine Banks
Phil Gibson Yes, absolutely, right next to where I worked for my auntie and later my brother, Victoria Salon, later the New Victorian, in Albert Street. At closing, she locked up, moved away, then came back to check, did this two to three times. She lived next to the Union Hotel in her old family home.
Phil Gibson
Christine Banks yes I remember her living there always use to offer dad a sherry which he would tip out the window...
Trish Rennie
Christine Banks Didn’t Miss Deer have the Catholic Supplies store on the Quay next door to Kings Hotel
Christine Banks
Trish Rennie Not sure Trish, I came to know her in Alvert Street but that was her 'new bookstore', so you are probably right.
Geoffrey King
Was Ross Motors once West Coast Motor bodies, Tim Harris? I have an aluminium trailer purchased in 1977 from them and is still as good as the day it was made.
