I remember being up there years ago, soaking up the atmosphere, the fog was thick, then we happened across this sign. It verified the vibes. I’ll never forget it.

My great grandmother went up there with 5 children and lived for several years in a tent because she refused to live in the single men's accommodation. Other children were born during that time, and she never went off the hill until the day the whole family moved.

I hear young people say especially in the last couple of years...because of Covid...i hear them moan about their deprived lives..no take aways...etc..and i shake my head and wonder if they swapped lives with these amazing women of that time..would they moan and groan about the hardships of years gone by.
