Passed away at Ashburton Hospital on Sunday, February 21, 2021. Aged 84 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Rose. Loving Dad and father-in-law of Craig and Wendy (Blenheim), and Julie (Ashburton). Treasured Grandad Barry of Timothy and Marcel, Andrew, Daniel and Kurt. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Jill and Ken Gillespie, loved brother-in-law of Peter and Judy Crawford, the late John, and Anne Crawford, and loved uncle of Kristen, John, and Barry; Carol and Paul. Pretty sure he taught with my Dad John Byrne at Waimea College in Nelson for years . Dad met Mum (Brenda Guerin before she was married) while teaching at Grey High and then they moved to Nelson in around 1964

I have just attended Barry's funeral in Ashburton. It was a very good service. Afterwards we had a wonderful session of reminiscing with Jill and several old GHS friends.

Thank you Don. So sorry to hear about the passing of Barry Bluett. Barry and I were Head Boy and Head Girl at Greymouth High School. Tribe leaders of Tainui Tribe too. Went right through High School together. You will know all this. Thank you for the memories Don. Yes, we are West Coasters through and through. Something we will never lose. Love to you all.

Helen Green Barry was a first class person. There was a lot of reminiscing about the good old days with Jill, Peter Crawford, Kay Cummings, Bob Best and Maxine Wicks who were all at the funeral today.
