DescriptionTOM REID AXEMAN AND LEAGUE PLAYER.

Hi Coasters I am a close relative of the late Tom Reid axeman, rugby league player who lived on the Coast for sometime. He was killed in a road accident after chopping at Otautau on the way back to Invercargill in 1969.
If anyone who knew Tom Reid also known as Wally Wikitera please make contact with me.
I would love to see photos of him, a memorial Trophy in his name and newspaper clippings.
I believe a great friend of his was Tom Fluerty Ann Fluerty who lost his arm to a mincer when he was 12 years old. Was he Arch Fluertys brother and is Tom Fluerty still alive somewhere. The fluertys were from Nelson Creek I believe.

Graham Liddell is there any photos in the Albums. He chopped with Dad. They had been all chopping together the day he died. Very sad.

Judith Whitehead awwww hi Judith, thank you for that bit of information. My goodness his mates would of been devastated. So very sad for them all.
Recently I’ve been in touch with one of his sons. Who provided me with the photo of Tom which was taken in Australia. It seems like Tom had 4 children but only two are alive. The one I have spoken to lives in the far north around about ninety mile beach.
I’m trying to get a hold of Toms sister Rose who is still alive and lives in Chch.x
