This was taken in 1960 before the Haast Pass was constructed so around the only other route somewhere near Lake Pukaki

Would be a TD 14 Rob Dad and Uncle Dave had 2 of them Correct Hamilton Blade Dad and Dave had the TD 14 A and a slightly later model Uncle Dick also had a TD 14 at Browns Creek

Bill Liddell . Yes you are correct. A TD25 is a much bigger machine. I didn't know they had 2 up their on the farm. Were they like dads TD9 where you would start the main engine on petrol then switch over to diesel when the cylinders were hot?

Yes they certainly were Rob Great work horses but final drives had seal issues and once water showed in the oil had to be stripped down and seals replaced About 1984 a guy from Murchison was trying to restore one and he bought them off Dad Motors still ging but drive clutches seized etc

Outside Ian Wardells Pukaki hotel was working in the area at the time building investigation roads for the Ministry of Works with Burnetts Motors Caterpillar D8 H No11
I belive the machine on the truck is George Wallis s International TD 14

John Bennett incorrect John it is my late fathers TD 14 , George Wallis carted it to Haast from Greymouth to log his uncle Norman Wallis timber block at Snapshot Creek (Haast )
