I wonder if they are at the railway station? That could be the Railway or Royal Hotel behind them? Also, they seem to be a little higher than the road in the background. High enough to be standing on the platform.

Bruce Keddie my father worked as a Post Office linesman. He usually wrote on the back of his photos but nothing on this one.

You can see the Railway Platform Ramp going down to the left. The vehicle in the background has a ladder fixed to the side of it. Possibly a Post Office vehicle which would fit in with your father working in the Lines Staff Noeleen. Date could be the late 1930s.
