Ron Pearson Richard Pearse was a remarkable inventor and invented a flying machine with several world-first innovations. Sadly the best he could do was an uncontrolled take-off which crashed immediately into the trees on the side of the road. He himself admitted in a letter to the ChCh Star that he was not the first to invent and fly an aeroplane.
