What an interesting account of this important part of history. A note: When the Waipuna dredge finished up my Dad bought the 1924 Chev truck, stripped down and constructed a sawbench powered from the tailshaft . In second gear the circular saw ran at a good speed for cutting firewood! that was in the 1940s
