There were two schools. My father went to this one about 1914.When I was little we had Sunday school in it as a hall, and many Marsden Socials.Situated on the right hand side after travelling over the Cards Creek Bridge as you enter Marsden.I went to the new school next to my parents home on Chapel Hill. The new school was shifted from Kurow about 1946,and I went to it 1947.It closed when I was about 8.Map[1] ContributorJillian Johnson

Not at Shantytown......The old school was in later years sold to Ian Maguigan Snr...who lived next to it......he used it as a garage workshop, it then disintegrated.....the new School I lived in in 1964 newly married and we made it into a comfortable little house open fire put in by my bricklayer brother....in 1970 I was widowed....so went away......in the 2000s new owners demolished it....I think the shed...garage my late husband built remains.....my Dad bought the new school off the education board and iincorporated into his land area.....later it appears to have been incorporated in to a larger land ownership.....

Jillian Johnson l always thought that Maguigan's house was the old school. I did some electrical work there when I knocked around with Ian jnr and from up in the ceiling it looked like it had been 1 big room (like a school room).

Not sure no one ever lived in old school to my knowledge and I lived Marsden till I was 27.....but Dad was there till early nineties and old school was pretty done by then.....Maguigans was next door and still stands to my knowledge....Topps house when I was a kid...then after Maguigans it was Leightons .....many changes in Marsden now.....

Jillian Johnson, your book Valley of Little Towns is one of my all time favourites, my late mother Helen Markland (née Williams) and grandmother Winifred lived in the area for a time and really enjoyed it as well

My father, Phil Amberger was born in Marsden 1922. Looks like him standing by the tree? Any names available?

Hi going by my dad he brought the old school section in the mid 70's bulldozed what was left of the old school and built a shed on it we haven't used it in years but I'm in the process of buying it from him going to use the old shed to stay in when in the area with plans to build there eventually is this the correct section first right after the bridge down the hill where the wee shed is heading over this weekend to clear a way in curious to hear the history in it
