I worked underground for 6 years. 2 years in a private party mine in Reefton back in the 80's and 4 years at Spring Creek before it was closed. I met some really good men. Proper coasters. Worked hard, played hard and earned their money.
I live in Westport now and spend a bit of time at Dennison and Millerton. Both places are monuments to the efforts of the old school miners who dug a living out of the mountains.
