AddBy: William Gray25th Jun 2021 1:02PMJust to add more information regarding this Japanese squid vessel, the only Japanese squid vessel which has berthed here was the KINSHO MARU which arrived here on the 4th of January 1976, at the time the vessel had a sick or injured crew member onboard. and was met off the bar by one of the local trawlers, who brought the crew member ashore, who was later treated at Grey Hospital. It appeared at the time, there was a dispute onboard the vessel amongst the crew involving three crew from the same family. The Greymouth Police had problems communicating with the crew, but they found a Japanese lady who was on holiday here at the time, and she was able to step in as the interpreter, After the problem was sorted out, the KINSHO MARU departed the port.
