I remember that shipwreck when I was a child

My dad his mates got on board the wreck and managed to get home with a detonator. My grandma heard an almighty bang from the garden at their Ward Street house and the outcome was one of dad’s mates (I think it was Fred Ramsden) blew off a digit from one of his hands. Luckily that was the only damage but the boys got a right roasting from Mavis.
