OMG my street where we lived in number 9 when we were kids my dad and mum went to an auction and won the bid but the council wouldn't let them move in till it was fixed up which my dad did gr8 memories

Bill Garth we were just talking about lorna yesterday and that yummy coconut ice. Mum would say she used to love hearing lorna play the piano as she often had the door open so the street could enjoy it.

Oh boy this is so good to follow number 8 my family home all these families and more but I’ve heard all the names played in most of the houses - remember going on a family holiday in the bread van to Dunedin. The Clarks who moved into McMillans used to play Christmas carols on the record player in the front window next door after Van Looys the Heaths Judy used to take us to the beach swimming. Smiths bread was very good.
I used to get it at lunchtime whilst I was waiting for my Dad to pick me up, often I would eat the middle out of the bread whilst waiting.
My Mum and Dad were not happy!!
They had a good variety of bread 50 plus years ago.

We lived at 108 Alexander Street around the corner and I would buy lollies at Pollock's shop shown in the photo.Most of Chunn's hill was grassed in the 50s but here is reverting to blackberry,gorse and broom.

Before Smiths Bakery was Robertsons Bakery. Scott & Jessie Robertson retired to Christchurch about 1947. They were my Grandparents and the other Grandies lived around the corner at 102 Alexander St. Lovely memories.
