Road works in the gorges were very common back then. Amazing how they kept roads open and traffic moving, and not a traffic plan in sight. So well done by MOW (or PED) depends on how long ago.

We used to go through the gorge in the mid 6o ,in a Morris 8. Quite often we would get there and the rd was closed with a slip no problems there was always machines there, couple of hours and we were on the way. The good days.

The first black and silver number plates were issued in 1964 and the very first plate was AA100.. The plate on that Hillman Imp looks close to that first number..

The Hillman imp I assume has come from Murchison, I'm staggered to think that I would have traveled over this road about 1964, with my parents, it looks not much more than a " goat" track, it took them ages to fully tar seal the road through to springs jct, very late 70's I would have thought?
