Built 1929 by Cammell Laird & Co Birkenhead UK for the Union Co,s coal trade from Westport and Greymouth sister-ship was the KAIMIRO, also built for the coal trade. The KAREPO was laid up in Auckland in March 1952, she was later sold to R. W. Miller Ltd of Sydney in 1954 and renamed TERALBA, 1954 to 1970, Transferred to SS William McArthur Pty. ltd ( R.W. Miller Pty Ltd Managers) 1962 to 1970 later sold to Goldfields Metal Traders, Fremantle and delivered Sydney April 1970, Sailed Sydney 11th of May 1971 in tow for Taiwan for scrapping.
