Ruth Naylor: I have had a look at the history for that ship Karamea at Charleston. It appears that when the Shepherdess stranded in Sept 1879 and Charles Craddock lost his life shipping was halted into Constant Bay, and shipping used the Nile River. After the Ship Nile deserted the river a little steamer Karamea made occasional trips to secure loads of railway sleepers. Enlarging the photo shows a rocky shore behind the ship could that be Nile River or Constant Bay.Did they beach in Nile River??
