About this image
DescriptionOur parents Anne Faulkner (right) and Paddy Blanchfield. It’s a terrific photo but we can’t identify the third person or what the event would have been. Most likely from the late 1930s as they were married in 1938.Date of Photo1938Map[1] ContributorKaren Blanchfield

You're welcome Karen... Janet sent me the photo. She thought I might be interested in the plane and I did a quick search at 2.00am after waking up and not getting back to sleep.
Karen Blanchfield
Steve Lowe apologies for your sleepless night! But very appreciative of the info, as you can imagine.

With the fuel pump it looks like Greymouth... and I presume Mrs R Faulkner is the other woman and the photo taken by Mr R Faulkner?
John Rosanowski
Paddy was a great MP and represented the West Coast in style.

John Rosanowski Paddy visited my parents, Matiri, during the 60’s. He knew of ‘the tribe’ (all of us kids) and he brought us toffee apples. I always patronise Blanchy’s for morning tea when I visit Greymouth, on the strength of that.!
Kerry Molloy
John Rosanowski mum left me a book on her maternal side when she passed -in it is the Blanchfield history ,some of the original bakery recipes and a selection of Paddies fine oratory &prose from this time as "Bard of the house".had he been alive today… See More

Karen Blanchfield
Trevor Keith Scott our father was Labour MP 1960-1978.

That was it, Thanks Love....mind not what it used to be. My Dad & Mum Ron & Eileen Scott knew Paddy well had a few with him at Ham Monks Pub at Paroa on more than one occasion.
Robert Scott
I had a cousin called Eileen Scott. Paddy was a well known and respected MP for the West Coast, back in the day. I believe he was known as the King of Poetry in Parliament. MP's were generally respected people back then.

Paddy sent a telegram to my wife and I on our wedding day (1975) which was read out at the reception.Interresting thing was the reaction from those present, esp the oldies.Just proved the high regard held for Paddy on the Coast in particular, regardless of your political persuasions!
Rob Lunn
Paddy the Poet some would say the last and best MP that we ever had fought a losing battle all the way for many terms for our province you don’t see that today !!!
