DescriptionTaken on a road trip about 1938 from Runanga to Nelson/Blenheim.
Photo.1. Some Runanga lads (labelled as such - no names - possibly Bob McTaggart 2nd from left) with Olive Robertson (nee Whinstanley) and Lorraine Mosley knelling outside Murchison tearooms. The two boys on the right have RFC or RTC on their blazers. Presumably football club blazers?
Photo.2. Stan Manderson, Lorraine and Olive in front. Stan and Lorraine ended up marrying (my grandparents).
Photo.3 Stan, Lorraine, and Neil Robertson at the Queens gardens Nelson. Stan and Neil were very good friends from a young age and I'm pretty sure both worked together at O'Brien and Party's mine up the Seven Mile. Olive and Neil ended up marrying but after this trip. They had one son Bill and eventually moved to ChCh. Both have passed now.
Photo 4. Lorraine, Stan, Pinn's (not sure which ones), and Olive knelling. They all looked to have travelled up in Stan's Willy Overland Knight van he used for his green grocer business in Blaketown. A bit of a squeeze I'd say.

Neat photos Malcolm. Nice to see Lorraine and Stan in their young days. David has heard about the Wilys but this is the first time he has seen a photo of it

June David Campbell Hope you and David are doing well. Yes, would love this van now. It obviously got around. Seems to occur in quite a few photos. You forget your grandparents were young once and just out enjoying the world and having fun. I'm pretty sure this was before they were married. We are lucky to have a lot of old family photos but I especially like these.

Lynn Hopkins I remember visiting them often as a kid in their house opposite Burwood Park. Down a long drive. The Manderson's and them remained close friends. Do you keep in contact with their son Bill. He maybe interested in the photos.

Helen Brennan It is nice to put a name to a face. Do you know the date that Dorrie and Freddie got married. I'm picking 1937 or 38. I presume they lived in Runanga?
