Looks like Boer War photo, some are wearing Rough Riders hats like my Grandfather wore

The gun looks like a 12pounder Armstrong as does the ammunition in front fitted with the No.56 Bell Fuze.
These guns were used in NZ land wars and were finished by Boer War. Could be WW1 training before deployment.Dianne Smith
