I remember going up there about that time with Mick Richardson, an old family friend who was working part time looking after their lamps. He had retired by then. It is exactly the way I remember the miners as I'd never been to a working coal mine before.

I live in Rockhampton, travelling ok, but have very poor eyesight.

I remember one evening the winch broke on dolly and Ivan Leis had to go to hospital to get forehead scrubbed under anesthetic as did not want permanent tattoo ...well nurses insisted he just asked them to get scrub brush out... not telling about the ride home with swarfega on hands thats peter shaws story
