Dad was working down the mine on the day heard the bang thought that's a big shot and carryed on working till they ran out of wagons walked out to telephone rang for more wagons got asked what they were doing in the mine as there had been a explosion and to get out. They walked back to get their crib and powder as never leave powder in the mine and walked out. They were the last to find out and the last to get out. Mum didn't know if he was dead or alive and his brother went down to get the bodies out with breathing gear.

Pauline Walsh your uncle Eric worked there then but had tossed a coin and wasn't on the shift. It was a pay day and day shift went to the pub after work. Dad never used to go so was set to go on the afternoon shift that day. He went to to help with the recovery of his work mates. So sad
