The description of the Little Hohonu River above is accurate however Pounamu Township in this plan is not next to the Little Hohonu River but is a bit further downstream below where the Little Hohonu joins with the Hohonu River (aka the Big Hohonu and Greenstone River) thus it sits next to the Hohonu River not the Little Hohonu River. The different Hohonu rivers in the same area are confusing for some people. There is also an Eastern Hohonu River east of the other two Hohonu Rivers.
