DescriptionWill and Sarah Mosley at a St Pauls Methodist Church function in Greymouth (c.1960's). Will is third from front and Sarah second from back. They were my great grandparents. Will was in Dixon House in his later years and still managed to go to church even though he was almost blind. He died in 1981 aged 97 years. Someone may recognise the other people. Will was born in the Durham Colliery town of Hilltop near Tanfield Moor Colliery and possibly retained his Methodist roots from those towns where Methodism was strong. If you look at a map of those NE England Colleries, every one had a Methodist Chapel. His family emigrated to NZ in 1886 and settled in Brunnerton, maybe because it was familiar for them. My father was the Methodist minister at Hokitika in the early '60's, maybe he visited that day to drop off the unfermented wine?
His father and grandfather came out from the mining town of Padiham in North Lancashire near the Yorkshire border. Dad's brother was also a Methodist minister.
