Lived like that for a month down there with the Lands and Survey team.. Great times.

Lived in these camps while surveying the route from Haast to link up with the survey I had done from Paringa south 1957 to 1962. Good hard days, which set me up to retire as IOW for the lower half of the north Island.

My husband worked on this road but was lucky enough to camp at Potters Creek in a "real house". His tales of those days are so interesting but the work was a hard slog in the worst of conditions.

Actually, I've noticed DOC biodiversity workers living in modern-day versions of these camps--better equipment granted but that's progress.

Yes with Brian Nixon. And lived off the land. Plenty of deer got other supplies on the bus every Friday night at Paringa, Snowy McKain was a great cook
