DescriptionPic 1. Tiger Moth ZK-APZ. I cannot be sure if my father David Oates flew this actual plane when he was doing his pilot training with the ATC apx 1944-1945 but he trained on Tiger Moths and had a Tiger Moth tattoo on his arm from a drunken weekend pass from camp (assuming Woodbourne). He did not complete his pilot training as the war came to an end.

First flight I ever took was in one of these at the Canterbury Centennial Air Show at Harewood in October 1953. In the flypast at the end 2 airforce planes collided killing 7 aircrew.

I went in a tiger moth once at Woodburn brother was in the airforce it was his friend but, no one told me he did acrobatics, I was rather ill!
