This is the GAEL, a 84' wooden vessel (CHas Bailey 1904) (ex NSSCo) owned and trading in Westland by the South Westland Shiiping and later Southern Cross Shipping Co's. No relation to the steel ships ( Storm,Calm, Gale etc) of the Canterbury Steam Shipping Co

There was a company that used weather names for their coastal ships. eg Storm, Calm and Gale. I think it's Holm & Co

There was also a ship named mv Gael, owned by South Westland Shipping co.. It used to trade down the west coast ports to and from Wellington around 1931-48 before being on-sold.
