Jason Mather - Well i'll be, the many times I've been on the tiphead & I never knew it was there.

Bob Laing - My Grandfather Jim Laing during WW11 was in the Home Guard Engineers on the Coast. That was their weekend work. Building machine gun and pill boxes, aircraft spotting places etc.

Well done. A timely reminder of the NZ-wide service of the Home Guard during WW2, these days almost forgotten. "Dad's Army" was a good comedy but it doesn't remotely reflect the preparedness of so many Kiwi volunteers willing to sacrifice their lives if the very possible invasion occurred.
