DescriptionHi Everyone, im a newbie here, hoping to find some connection or information about my Grandmother (Dorothy Mary Burt) and Great-Grandparents (David and Mary Ann Burt) who had lived in Runanga, Coalcreek and Blackball. My great-grandfather was a ropeman in the early to mid 1900's but I have no details as to where he may have worked. I was recently given the attached photo, but unfortunately the only marking is the number written on the front. Apologies for the long winded post but any information would be very appreciated.Map^[1]^[2]ContributorRiss Jane

My grandmother Mary Anne Hewison has a friend Dorothy Burt I vaguely remember her mentioning it at one time she was going to visit this lady when my mother and I were staying with her in Dunolli I wonder if it is the same person

A few basics ... Dorothy Mary Burt was born on 19 January 1915, married Joseph Henry Fifield on 15 April 1938, and died on 27 April, 2006

Hi Riss Jane, OK I have found a Dorothy Burt who married John Brisbane in 1947. Her 1972 death registration shows a birthdate of 16 July 1914, which doesn't match the birthdate of Dorothy Mary Burt (19 Jan 1915). Different women with different names?

Luke Howison hrm ok, thats interesting because i know of other family trees that connect dorothy burt, mary ann dixon and david burt, but have dorothy marrying john? The plot thickens

Mary Ann's origins (from FamilySearch records):
Mary Ann Dixon was born to George Dixon and Christina Dorothy Taylor. Christina gave birth to Mary Ann at sea on a ship called the Napier, on 2 August 1879.
Mary Ann migrated to New Zealand with parents George and Christina. They lived in Brunnerton. George died in 1889 and his wife Christina remarried Joseph McEwan in 1890. Christina died in 1929.

Mary Ann and David Burt had at least five children:
Charlotte Melville Burt, born 1904
Joseph McEwan Burt, born 1907
John Burt, born 1908
Dorothy Mary Burt and Grace Marjory Burt (twins!) both born 19 January 1915
Unfortunately Grace Marjory Burt did not live past infancy (died 26 September 1916).
I notice Joseph McEwan Burt was named after his mother Mary Ann Burt's stepfather (see previous post)
