Possibly the first Braehead mine worked by Bootes. - ALBUM -

DescriptionMy son in law and I went away up past the last Braehead mine I had on last week and was surprised to find more mines and a old boiler with a few Dunollie bricks. This is high up on the hills behind Dunollie. My son in law came for the walk and we think this is the first Braehead worked by Bootes. The old boiler was a bonus.

After doing more trips up the hill Im 99 % sure that two of the mines are Armstrongs and possibly the old boiler that would of driven the winch. We walked Arnstrongs track down from the top and it runs parallel to Braeheads track.

Peter Armstrong Hi Peter, yes very close, I will look for it next time. I believe they actually ran into each other. Armstrongs Dunollie went from 1922 to 1929 when they transferred to 10 mile.

We got the gig wheel out by helecopter to use in the ski lift at Harringtons in the 10 mile

Tamai Sinclair No I just find them from local knowledge and books. But thr son in law that was with me today has a watch that does the gps I think. Its just a hobby. I have done a couple of books on the old mines and the workers.
