DescriptionSince there's a bit of Langdon stuff here, another picture of John Miller Langdon (1863-1896).
Mid last year a large estate lot of family history stuff was auctioned off somewhere. Some went to a Christchurch collectables dealer and as it turns out some to a Nelson dealer because some of the stuff has been popping up there too.
It was centred around the Langdon family, but there was so much from the Smithers family (John's sister Patricia known as Patience) that I guess a lot of it ended up with that branch; and then someone died and it unfortunately went out of the family. It's always sad to see collections split up.
There was also a bound booklet in it which had been nicely set out with a lot of research information on each person and images. So whomever it belonged to was really serious about the genealogy. This photo was set in a card and I am guessing it was the bereavement card the family had made when John was killed in Brunner. ContributorDarian Zam
