I think all of that village is gone now? From memory it was few miles south of the junction where the road north met the road over the Pass.

Annie Swain yeah that’s where Haast township was when we lived down there I think it has moved off the main road now

The house is the Dillons,then the post office house.You can see the tennis courts ,then the post office itself.Just behind you can see a house where the Russels lived.

The crane was always called the Allan crane and it is moving bridge girders . Behind you can see where Lidia and Ricky Faulds lived.Sorry I cant remember how to spell Fowlds.The car in the photo is more than likely Abe Dillons Ford V 8.My mother Emily Walker aka (aggie) my sister Mary and myself lived in the house next door.

James Walker Veldt or near?Rick was Dutch so there must be many where you live who have similar names. I remember you and your sister,I left as a kid before the Haast Pass began. I was down at my uncles,Bernie Cowan a few times

I think Abe Dillons and the shed like building could be the shop that my mother had (June Russell) they took it over when we left in 1958

Wow, thanks every one. My Dad was working there before I was born. They ended up in Temuka/Arowhenua and I remember the Dillons, they lived over the river. We lived at the Minstry of Works depo
